Bruchsal/Bucharest, April 8, 2024: After intensive preparations, a new site opened in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, at the beginning of January. The drive and automation specialist based in Bruchsal, Germany, is now present in 56 countries worldwide.
With a population of around 20 million people, Romania is the sixth-largest state in the European Union and the most important sales market in South-eastern Europe. Its strongly growing economy and favorable conditions for companies make it one of the most appealing hotspots for investors in Europe. Technological development in the country is also progressing rapidly – and SEW EURODRIVE has also recognized this potential.
A seven-person team of drive and automation specialists led by managing director Razvan Dumitrache is now based in Bucharest, but only for the initial period. "In the summer, we are planning to move to a larger site in the city of Ștefănești," says Dumitrache. In the future, around 330 square meters of office space and more than 1000 square meters of service and storage space will be available for the new regional company – and additional employees will be hired in stages.
While the branch is being established and started up, the team is receiving intensive support from colleagues from Germany and Austria. This includes expansion of the service portfolio, for example. SEW-EURODRIVE in Romania can already rely on a stable customer network, which is a result of the sales cooperation with local company Sialco Trading that had been in place since 1994. The new branch can now build on this network. "We are very grateful to our former partner Sialco Trading s.r.l., and in particular to the owner Silviu Gruia, for the 30 years of collaboration," says Oliver Beschkowitz, managing director of SEW-EURODRIVE Austria. "By taking over four key employees, we are laying the foundation for further expanding our presence and supporting our customers in Romania."
In particular, SEW-EURODRIVE is breaking into a gap with its set-up as a Drive Center that combines sales and service under one roof. The Drive Center will offer a portfolio that is unique in Romania in this form – none of the international market competitors has yet been present in the Southeastern European country with a comparable range. Michael Binder, who is regional manager for Southeastern Europe and responsible for setting up the new branch on behalf of the Austrian subsidiary, therefore has no doubts about the success of the site. "The establishment of an SEW-EURODRIVE subsidiary in Romania is a great opportunity to create benefits for our customers through new services and an end-to-end process chain."
